Abstract: At approximately 3:30 p.m. on June 28, 2017, an employee was conducting touch-up welding on a steel basket. He sustained burns to the body because his shirt caught on fire while he was welding parts in the QC Area of the facility. The employee sustained burns to his arms, hands, chest, and the back of the neck. The employee was wearing welding gloves, flame resistant arm guards, safety shoes, safety glasses, and welding helmet, as it was directed by the employer. However, the employee was not wearing flame resistant weld jacket; it was not required by the employer at the time of the accident. The employee was hospitalized and treated for multiple burns to his body.
