Abstract: On February 4, 1999, Employee #1, a carpenter for Amvet Construction, was working at a framing project at Kings Beach Elementary School in Kings Beach, CA. He was using a Skilsaw to rip a 2 by 4 when the saw kicked back, amputating his left thumb. First aid was provided by the North Lake Tahoe Fire Department, and he was then taken by ambulance to Tahoe Forest Hospital. After Employee #1 was stabilized, he was transferred to Washoe Medical Center in Reno, NV, for reattachment of his thumb.
