Abstract: At approximately 10:00 a.m. on June 19, 1998, Employee #1 was using a chain saw to cut down a 86 ft tall beech tree on an approximately 60 degree slope. As the tree fell into the ravine, vines from the brush around it that were also connected to a poplar tree 27 ft uphill, pulled on a limb and broke it off. The limb fell, striking Employee #1 on the head. He was hospitalized and died shortly thereafter.
