Abstract: Employee #1, of Smith Frozen Foods, Weston, OR, was cleaning the interior of an operating even feeder on which the access panel of the airlock had been removed. He was holding a scrub pad in his right hand when it became caught by a paddle of the feeder, pulling his hand into the shear point between the paddle and the enclosure of the even feeder. His first two fingers were amputated down to the large knuckle, along with the tip of his ring finger. He was transported by ambulance to the trauma center at St. Mary's Medical Center, Walla Walla, WA.
