Abstract: At 7:15 a.m. on February 3, 2015 an employee was operating a Modern Machine tube cutting machine to cut 20-foot lengths of 3/4 inch tube piping down to 2-1/2 sections when apparently a piece of tube pipe that had been cut did not come out of the machine. The employee shut off the power to the machine and opened the door to the inside where the pipe is fed into the cutter. A piece of the cut pipe had fallen from the holding plate and had become lodged against the holding plate and the body of the machine. The employee attempted to unwedge the piece of pipe when he apparently got his right ring finger caught between the edge of the pipe and the body of the machine. As he attempted to push the pipe downward so that it would fall into the finished piece trough, his finger got pinched between the pipe and the machine. The employee's right fourth finger was fractured. The distal joint of right ring finger was caught between two metal objects; 3/4 inch metal pipe and the frame of the machine.
