Abstract: At approximately 8:30 a.m. on February 10, 2014, a fulltime employee was performing his normally assigned duties as a culinary specialist for the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, CA. The employee began experiencing chest pains, dizziness, and shortness of breath. He went to his immediate supervisors, complained of his symptoms, and asked for medical assistance. The supervisors instructed him to leave work and go to his personal doctor. The employee, seeking medical assistance, walked over to the university's human resources department to request help. The representatives there contacted emergency services. The employee was first taken to California Hospital and then transferred to Little Company of Mary Hospital. He was hospitalized and treated for his illness and chest pains from February 10 to February 12, 2014. The employer did not report the illness to the Division. The employer was cited as follows: Regulatory: 342(a)- For failing to report the serious illness General: 3400(a)- For failing to ensure the ready availability of medical personnel.
