Abstract: Employee #1 was attempting to repair a carburetor on the lawnmower as part of routine maintenance. Employee #1 tied a rope around the handle so the mower would run while he adjusted the carburetor. While the mower was running, he slipped and fell on top of the running lawnmower. Employee #1's left hand went under the mower and contacted the rotating blade, which amputated his finger. At the time of the accident, Employee #1 was working by himself. Employee #1 had been employed with Mariposa Landscapes Incorporated for five years as a maintenance mechanic.
