Abstract: On June 15, 2007, an employee, a general laborer, was on the roof of the building, alone, and engaged in cleaning a skylight with a broom. The broom broke, and he lost his balance, falling through the unguarded skylight. The employee fell over 15 feet to the concrete floor below. The employee was not wearing any personal fall protection gear such as a harness, lanyard, etc. No means of fall protection was used at the jobsite at the time of the incident. The employee's supervisor was not onsite, but was aware of the task that the employee was performing.
