Abstract: At approximately 11:55 a.m. on July 17, 2008, Employee #1, a machine operator, was operating a KERG, Model Number DK1100, pocket hole boring machine with a 1.375-inch opening plastic guard to feed a particle chip board. A controlled circular clamp was located one inch from the front edge of the plastic guard opening. Employee #1 pushed the chip board with his left hand to bore a pocket hole. He activated the machine, pinching his middle finger tip between the clamp and the chip board, causing an amputation. He was taken to St. Mary's Hospital, where surgery was performed. He was not hospitalized for his treatment.
