Abstract: At approximately 2:00 p.m. on March 12, 2005, Employee #1, a carpenter, was using a Hitachi pneumatic nail gun, Model Number NR83A2, to nail metal hangers for joists and trusses. While nailing the flange hanger, a nail inadvertently discharged, deflected off the metal plate, and struck the employee in his right cheek. He was transported to San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland, CA for treatment and was later transported by helicopter to Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA, where surgery was performed to remove the nail. He was hospitalized for 15 days.
