Abstract: At approximately 1:00 p.m. on June 23, 2000, an employee of Sit N Sleep was on a 6 by 6 foot metal platform raised 12.5 feet off of the ground by an order picker, a powered industrial truck. The employee was walking backwards while pulling a box spring off of the upper rack. He was wearing his safety belt but the lanyard was not attached to his belt. The employee walked off the edge of the platform and fell 12.5 feet to the ground and suffered a serious cranial fracture, brain laceration and broken bones in his clavical and arm requiring hospitalization of approximately 30 days.
