Abstract: Around 3:00 p.m. on December 9, 1998, Employee #1, an employee for a construction company, was applying water and stucco to a wall. The wall was about 12 ft high. Employee #1 was standing on a 10-ft aluminum straight ladder and was working about 8 ft above the floor. The ladder was leaning against the wall but not secured. The ladders feet slipped causing the ladder to fall. Employee #1 fell on top of the ladder but felt fine. Later that night he felt pain in his abdomen. He called his employer who had Employee #1 was hospitalized and had a ruptured spleen removed.
