Abstract: At approximately 1:00 p.m. on May 6, 1996, Employee #1, the foreman of a pipe laying team, was working with his assigned crew members to install a marine water disposal pipeline system. He was in the excavation assisting the pipe layer with a problematic weld joint when the entire crew heard a horn blow. Employee #1 looked up and saw a large clump of clayey dirt coming toward him. He pushed a coworker out of the way before he was struck in the back and knocked to the ground. Employee #1 sustained blunt trauma to his lower back, internal injuries, and abrasions to his left arm.
