Abstract: Employee #1 fractured his neck and shoulder when he was struck by a log on the back of his head. The Rigging Slinger went ahead on a three log turn that included a wind fall Alder approximately 80 feet in length. The Alder had not been completely bucked off at the root wad and swung around toward the three man crew as the turn came out of its bed. The Rigging Slinger made an instant decision to not blow the stop whistle hoping the log would clear all three of the crew. The log went over the head of the lower choker setter. The Rigging Slinger ducked and hit the ground as the log cleared him. Employee #1 turned to run and was struck in the back of his head fracturing his neck and shoulder. Employee #1 went to a local hospital for treatment.
