Abstract: On September 24, 2004, Employee #1 and other coworkers were cutting down a small hemlock. While cutting, it set back and pinched his saw. His coworker came over, and they decided one of them would attempt to pull the saw out while the other person put a second face and back cut up higher to try and get the tree to fall in the direction it was now leaning. As the tree fell away, the first face and back cut kicked out, causing the butt of the tree to kick back as it was falling. The employee pulled the saw out and was struck by the tree, breaking his pelvis. He was hospitalized with fracture.
