Abstract: On February 23, 2005, Employee #1 was working as a steel erector for Innovative Steel Erectors, spreading steel decking material. He was straddling a steel beam, moving by sliding his feet along the beam's lower flange. As he distributed the decking material, he lost his balance. He could not hold on to the beam, and a coworker working with him could not get to him in time to help. Employee #1 fell 13 feet 6 inches. He sustained fractures to both ankles and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was hospitalized.
