Abstract: On April 1, 2005, Employee #1, an employee, of a Restoration company, was cutting 2-ft by 4-ft freeze blocks using a 10-in ridged chop saw. Employee #1 was holding the block of wood with his left hand and operating the chop saw with his right hand. As Employee #1 pulled the saw down to cut a groove in the end of the block, the blade caught the wood and pulled his left hand into the blade. Part of Employee #1's palm was amputated. Employee #1's coworker was working with him at the time of the accident and witnessed him amputate part of his hand. Employee #1's coworker came to his aide. Employee #1 was hospitalized and treated for his injuries. Employee #1's hand was reattached.
