Abstract: On November 26, 1996, Employee #1, a repairman with Easterday Janitorial Supply Company, was checking the operation of a floor scrubber at an elementary school. With one hand he reached down under the scrubbing brush guard near the floor, and then turned on the motor with his other hand to see if the drive belt was turning. The moving belt grabbed Employee #1's middle finger and pulled it into the pulley. At the time of the accident, his injuries did not seem serious. He was given first aid at the scene and then taken to Sutter Roseville Hospital, where he the flesh of his fingertip was degloved and then reattached. The reattachment did not take and the fingertip had to be amputated.
