Abstract: At 1:35 p.m. on December 21, 2005, Employee #1 had just finished putting up a 2-by-4 block wall in the bathroom of an existing house. He was laying down his Hitachi nail gun when it accidentally struck it against his right leg. The gun fired, shooting a nail into his knee. Employee #1 was transported to UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, CA, where he was treated for three days and underwent surgery to remove the nail. The one-year-old nail gun was inspected immediately after the accident and was deteremined to be in good condition and functioning properly. A coworker was working about 5 ft away from Employee #1, but did not see the accident occur.
