Abstract: At 12:00 noon on April 24, 2004, Employee #1, whose employer is engaged in laundry and rental business of uniforms and towels, was working on a commercial dryer (American Laundry Machinery, Model 413, Serial Number 413400340393, Capacity 200 lbs) to adjust an air flow switch in the rear side of the dryer. Employee #1 opened up a cover on the opening (3 in. diameter) for the switch, and he was looking at the burner. The dryer was in its operating mode. His left hand got caught between the ribbed back of the rotating tumbler (drum) and the housing of the dryer and caused amputation of his left middle finger and fracture on his ring finger.
