Abstract: At 10:22 a.m. on October 25, 1999, Employee #1 sustained a serious injury while working on a Mattison Straight Line rip saw, Model 202, located in the northeast part of the mill. While ripping wooden planks, sized 8-foot by 6-inches by one-inch, on the Straight Line rip saw, a small pointed wooden strip shot back, piercing through an artery of his right upper thigh below the groin area and causing the injury. Employee #1 was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California, for treatment. Employee #1 was hospitalized for several days after the surgery.
