Abstract: A sole owner-operator of a tractor-truck had been contracted to haul a trailer bed of scaffoldings and bleacher construction materials to a job site. The trailer bed was 40 ft long, and 4 ft 6 in. to the ground. The trailer was a Model 95 brand is a Freightliner, SP 874020. During travel, the load on the passenger side of the trailer bed had shifted. Once at the job site, the tractor-truck owner and Employee #1 removed the straps that were tying down the load to the trailer bed. When Employee #1 removed the strap at the displaced load area, the displaced load fell off and hit his lower left leg. Employee #1 sustained multiple fractures of the pelvic area, upper legs paralysis, head trauma, and his lower left leg was amputated. Employee #1 was hospitalized and treated for his injuries. The day of the accident was Employee #1's first day on the job.
