Abstract: Employee #1 was repairing a harvesting conveyor belt. To gain access to the bolts that aligned the belt, he removed a guard that was covering the chain and sprocket drive. According to Employee #1, the machine needed to be running to adjust the belt properly. After making the adjustment he applied grease to the chain and sprocket drive. He noticed some grease dripping from the chain and sprocket and wiped it up with a rag. Employee #1 felt his right hand being pulled suddenly into the chain and sprocket drive. He pulled his hand out and noticed that parts of his right 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers were gone. Employee #1 was treated at the Marin Medical Center.
