Abstract: On May 31, 2001, Employee #1 was seriously injured after slipping off a wet step located outside on the passenger side of a trash truck. After Employee #1 slipped off, the front right wheel, which is behind the steps, rolled over his left foot and left arm. At the time the front-loading trash truck was moving forward in an alley to pick up a container bin. There were two other employees on the truck. One was the driver and the other employee, like Employee #1, was a trash truck helper, also referred to a "swamper". Employee #1 suffered fractured bones in the left ankle and in the elbow of the left arm and was hospitalized for 20 days.
