Abstract: At approximately 11:50 a.m., on November 17, 2011, Employee #1, a cabin service agent working at an airport in San Diego, suffered serious injury when she was struck and pinned by a baggage cart being pulled by a tug. Employee #1 was working as part of the ground crew servicing airplanes and was walking through the area where the baggage handling carts were moving. The area was cluttered with carts and tugs, and a coworker who was driving a tug pulling four carts was trying to get through. Employee #1 was pinned after the tug had passed, getting caught between one of the baggage carts and another tug, suffering a severe laceration to the right leg. Employee #1 was transported to Scripps Mercy where she was hospitalized for more than 24 hours.
