Abstract: At approximately 7:30 a.m. on August 24, 2010, Employee #1 was working at a brewery. He was standing near a large hot water tank to set up a brink solution fill up. After filling the yeast brink in the smaller tank (a keg), he disconnected the hose line, and the hot water splashed on his legs. He suffered first and second degree burns on the lower part of both of his legs. Employee #1 was immediately taken to a local hospital and then to burn center, where he was hospitalized. The employee had failed to close the stainless steel ball valve on the larger tank before disconnecting the quick release tri- clover, 1 in. by 1.5 in., reinforced hose connect system.
