Abstract: At approximately 7:30 a.m. on March 24, 2004, Employee #1 was working on scaffolding that had no guardrails at an elevation of approximately 8 ft while installing brackets into a wooden beam. The manager had come inside the shack and saw Employee #1 turn around and move in a westerly direction to talk to a coworker and had fallen and struck the cross bracing with his head and left shoulder before hitting the ground. The manager called the emergency medical services. Employee #1 sustained head and brain trauma injuries. Employee #1 was initially taken to Pioneer Memorial Hospital to the emergency room and then he was transferred to UCSD Hospital in San Diego for surgery and treatment. Employee #1 was hospitalized
