Abstract: At 10:15 a.m. on October 8, 2003, Employee #1, a carpenter with Tiller Constructors, was manually unloading a 16-ft-long, 8-in. by 16-in. wood beam off a stack of recently delivered wood, with two coworkers. As they began to lift the beam, a coworker's hand became pinched, and he released the beam. The beam then rolled over and fell, crushing Employee #1's right middle finger between the beam and the 4-in. by 4-in. cribbing, causing an amputation of his finger tip.
