Abstract: At 10:15 a.m. on August 16, 2006, Employee #1 was performing maintenance on two 480-volt breaker panels at the employer's facility in Redondo Beach, CA. The employer was an electricity generation facility that used steam generators. Employee #1 decided to move a portable breaker hoist that was crowding the work area. As he was doing so, the lifting arm fell from the upper (extended) position to the lower position. Employee #1's gloved hand was struck and pinched by the lifting arm, resulting in a fracture to his left pinky finger tip and lacerations to the left pinky and middle fingers. Employee #1 noticed his injuries, while removing the gloves a while later. He was taken to the company's contract clinic, where he was treated and released that afternoon.
