Abstract: On September 26, 2006, Employee #1 was part of a crew felling a large red oak tree in front of a single family residence. A tree climber had rigged a web sling from a crane around one of the branches from a large limb to be cut. The crane operator tightened up the cable to hold the limb while the climber cut if off. When the limb was cut, it swung downward, breaking the branch to which the sling was attached. The limb then struck the face of Employee #1, who was standing next to the crane's counterweight. He was killed.
