Abstract: At 12:30 p.m. on December 3, 2001, Employee #1 was standing at the edge of a platform while painting a wall on a new commercial building. Employee #1 was not wearing fall protection, or using a ladder or scaffold when performing his work. Employee #1 reached out to paint the edge of the wall and lost his balance and fell 9.8 feet to the concrete floor. Employee #1 was using a 48-inch extension pole that was attached to the brush. Employee #1 sustained severe head injuries as a result of his impact with the concrete floor. He was taken to Naples Community Hospital, where he subsequently expired on December 5, 2001.
