Abstract: At approximately 11:45 a.m. on August 8, 1995, Employee #1 was alone for 20 minutes trimming 5 1/2 in. long door jambs to 4 in. long on an old, unguarded table saw built in 1947. His hand slipped and his fingers contacted the exposed blade. He was taken to Scripps Hospital for treatment of an amputated right index finger and a minor laceration to his right middle finger. The employer was assembling and distributing doors and windows in an old building. According to the employer, Employee #1 was properly trained with one year experience in using the old table saw. The employer was found in violation of T8CCR 4300(a), and a serious citation was issued with penalty.
