Abstract: At approximately 1:30 p.m. on July 13, 2000, Employee #1, a carpenter for Kelly Construction, a coworker, and the company owner were installing 30 ft long roof trusses atop an 11 ft 6 in. high wall. They were about halfway done the job and were sliding a truss from one spot to another across the top of the trusses already in place. As the lone truss passed over the last four trusses installed, the weight and side motion caused them to turn on their sides. The four trusses bowed and dropped inside the building, and Employee #1 and the company owner fell with them to the floor. Employee #1 suffered a fractured wrist and multiple facial lacerations; he was transported by ambulance to U.C.-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The owner was not seriously injured.
