Abstract: At approximately 9:35 a.m. on December 29, 1998, Employee #1 was on a scaffold installing soft wood under the roof fascia at the right back corner of a two-story building. He was apparently holding a 2 by 4 by 12 with his left hand while using a Skilsaw to cut it. The saw kicked back, lacerating two fingers on his left hand. There were no witnesses to the accident and subsequent investigation showed no defects in the equipment. The accident was the result of Employee #1 holding and cutting the lumber at the same time. The employer was cited for failure to properly train Employee #1 on the handling and operation of a skill saw.
