Abstract: At approximately 4:30 p.m. on March 22, 1995, Employee #1 was operating an Emery Thompson 10 quart ice cream freezer. As the ice cream making process ended, most of the ice cream had poured out of the machine into a container resting on a shelf below. A small chunk of ice cream remained on the lip of the discharge hole and as the employee reached to knock it off, the machine inadvertently started up again. Her right hand was drawn inside the chamber. Every finger was fractured and the top of her right thumb severed. She was hospitalized as a result of her injuries.
