Abstract: On April 29, 1998, Employee #1, a fire fighter and fire equipment driver, positioned his apparatus at a high-rise fire and was helping other engine companies hook up lines. He was informed via radio to reposition his equipment so that another ladder company could get to the scene. He ran a distance of 464 ft three times while performing this request; shortly thereafter, he complained of chest pains to the battalion chief. Employee #1 was administered first aid before being transported by private ambulance to St. Claire Hospital, where he died after suffering a heart attack.
