Abstract: Employee #1 had entered the sheep processing area through a solid door. He spoke to the skinners, and as he turned to continue into the plant, he was hit in the right eye by a hanging gamble. The gamble is a triangular shaped stainless rod assembly with two hooks for hanging sheep. The gamble rides into the skinning/eviscerating area on a roller. Even though the gravity overhead conveyor had side rails to prevent a roller from coming off the rail, one did come off. The gamble hook that struck Employee #1 was hooked onto a rolling gamble and was at eye level. Employee #1 lost the use of his right eye.
