Abstract: Employee #1 reported to work sometime before 1:00 p.m. on July 31, 1994. Between 1:00 p.m. and 1:14 p.m. he went onto the ramp area outside Delta Airline terminal 1A, gate #26. He climbed onto and started tug #17571 and put it in reverse. He backed into a mobile baggage conveyor, causing the driver's seat on the tug to break from its rear mounts. The conveyor belt pushed the employee forward, crushing him between the conveyor and the tug steering wheel. At approximately 1:14 p.m., other employees found Employee #1 and extricated him from under the conveyor. They called 911 and an ambulance transported him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
