Abstract: At 1:00 p.m. on August 28, 2023, an employee working for a building contractor was supervising two coworkers. The crew was digging a concrete footer for an interior staircase at a single-family residence which was being renovated. At 6:00 a.m. the crew had started their shift and at 8:00 a.m. they arrived at the project worksite. At 12:00 p.m., the crew had completed the work, and they were cleaning up in preparation to leave the site. The employee told one of the coworkers that he did not feel well, and he was having seizure-like symptoms. The coworkers called 911 and the employee was transported by ambulance to the hospital. At the hospital, the employee was pronounced dead from cardiac arrest.
