Abstract: At approximately 2:15 p.m. on April 13, 2021, an employee was a seamstress, and the employee was injured while cutting an 5/16" shock cord using an automated cutting machine (Manufacturer: Sheffield, Model: H/C 530, Serial number: 4393). The employee used a scissor first to cut a piece of 5/16" shock cord. Another coworker saw her using the scissor and told her to use the other cutter to do the job. Instead of using the small cutter (located on the other end of the table), the employee used the automated cutting machine (Manufacturer: Sheffield, Model: H/C 530, Serial number: 4393) to cut the 5/16" shock cord. The employee put her left hand inside the (another end) machine to check if the material was being cut and coming out. In doing so, her left-hand index finger and thumb were amputated by the blades of the machine. The employee was treated but was not hospitalized.
