Abstract: At 2:00 p.m. on March 8, 2021, Employee #1, a registered nurse, died from a fall while on-duty at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Previously, on February 4, 2021, Employee #1 worked her normal duties from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. At approximately 11:00 PM, Employee #1 entered the nourishment room and got ice water for herself or a patient, then coworker #2 (registered nurse) and coworker #3 (registered nurse) heard a loud noise. Coworker #2 and coworker #3 found Employee #1 had fallen to the floor, unconscious, and Coworker #2 and Coworker #3 rendered medical assistance to Employee #1 and called for help. Employee #1 was taken to the emergency department and was treated for a head injury. Employee #1 remained at the University of Chicago Medical Center until she died on March 8, 2021, due to complications of craniocerebral injuries, fall, and hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
