Abstract: An employee worked as a Sorter for a roasted nuts processing company. The employee reported the loss of taste and smell and a sore throat with no noticable fever. The employee took two days off from work and when she began feeling better she returned to work on June 12, 2020. The employee worked in the sorting room with approximately 12 coworkers sorting pistachios that were brought in via a conveyor belt. On June 13, 2020, the employee reported once again feeling ill with a sore throat, but she still had no fever. The employee was scheduled to work from 1:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., but left early at 5:00 p.m. due to her symptoms and to go to a clinic to get tested for COVID-19. The employee recieved a positive test result for COVID-19. At 2:12 a.m. on June 16, 2020, the employee was admitted to the hospital because symptoms became worse. On June 18, 2020, the employee was released from the hospital. Information regarding engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls for COVID-19 are not included in the narrative.
