Abstract: At 1:30 p.m. on April 28, 2020, Employee #1, employed by a construction company, was working at a multiemployer project, the construction of a residential structure. He jumped into a trench and made contact with a shovel handle sticking out from the ground inside the excavation. The shovel handle struck the employee's throat, causing a traumatic injury to the right carotid artery. Employee #1 was killed.
