Abstract: At 1:30 p.m. on July 9, 2019, an employee was performing a transfer of propane with a methanol additive into an underground tank. The employee was wearing leather gloves and safety glasses. The employee connected the hose, opened the bleeder and did not hear a release, and began the transfer of propane when he was sprayed in the eyes with propane. The employee was hospitalized to treat cryogenic burns to his left eye.
