Abstract: At 4:15 p.m. on October 24, 2017, an employee was working as a driver and delivery pickup employee for a large, nationwide package delivery firm. He was driving his truck route and was at a mobile site with his delivery truck. A local policeman found him slumped over the steering wheel of his truck. He had sustained a heat illness. He was treated at Huntington Beach Hospital. He was diagnosed with dehydration, and he was hospitalized. He had not drunk enough water. Temperatures that afternoon had been between 38 and 41 degrees Celsius (100 and 106 degrees Fahrenheit). His employer notified the Division at 11:12 p.m. that same day that an employee had been hospitalized earlier, at 6:46 p.m. A CSHO opened an inspection at the employer's work site the following day.
