Event: 10/04/2019
Employee fractures ribs in fall into trench

At 3:04 p.m. on October 4, 2019, an employee was working with a coworker drilling mole holes from the street to the water service box on an underground utility sewer replacement project. After the employees finished with one mole hole, they started moving the equipment to the next open trench. The employee was dragging the air hose walking backwards when he stepped on the edge of the trench and lost his footing. The employee fell into the four-foot-deep trench and hit his ribs against the edge of it. The employee was transported to the hospital, where he was admitted and treated for fractured ribs.
