Employee dies from a sepsis infection

At 10:00 p.m. on January 5, 2019, Employee #1, a CNA was attending to a resident with the assistance of Employee #2 who is also a CNA. Employee #1 was changing the adult underclothes of the resident which were soiled. Employee #2 was keeping the resident calm so that Employee #1 could attend to the resident's personal hygiene. The resident gouged Employee #1 with her fingernails leaving a "seven" or "v" shaped wound which was bleeding. The Employee #1 was admitted to the hospital on 1/9/2019 for septic shock. Group A streptococcus was found in the right forearm lesion.
