Employee lacerates and amputates fingers while cutting pipe

At 4:50 p.m. on November 6, 2018, an employee had finished unloading containers at a warehouse when he decided to go help cut pipe in another part of the facility. The employee had been cutting 20-foot acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) pipes into 2-foot sections using a DeWalt DW716 Double Bevel Compound Miter Saw, a task he had performed since April 2015, when the accident occurred. The employee's left hand inadvertently came into the cutting area of the Miter saw blade. The employee cut his left thumb, index and middle fingers, resulting in amputation. The employee was hospitalized.
