Employee catches thumb in nip point and amputates finger

At 9:30 p.m. on July 3, 2018, an employee was using a coil cart while trying to adjust the inside tail of the coil to go onto the mandrel/spindle of the uncoiler. The employee pinched his thumb between the coiled steel and the mandrel spindle, amputating his finger. The employee was hospitalized.
