Employee Is Killed When Truck Cab Is Crushed

On October 11, 2010, Employee #1 and a coworker, both truck drivers, were working on a road construction site and hauling dirt to the shoulder of a road. The dirt was used to fill in low spots on the shoulder. The coworker told Employee #1 to drive down to the spot where the dirt should be placed and wait for him. Approximately five minutes later when the coworker drove down the road towards Employee #1, he noticed the semi-truck was lying on its side. The coworker walked around to the driver's side of the semi-truck and noticed the trailer had crushed the driver's side of the cab. Emergency medical personnel were summoned. They arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene. The preliminary cause of death was due to crushing injuries.
